Tips to Increase Google Adsense Revenue

In previous post, I mentioned 18 top reason why google can ban your account, In this post, i am discussing about top tips to increase your google adsense revenue. Once you have installed your Adsense code on your website, then you can only earn money from your website when a user visit your website and click on one of google adsense ads.

Here is the list of things you can do to increase the possibility of user clicking on your ads:

  1. Create more and more number of pages so that use could continue to visit your website, more visitors, more chances of clicks.

  2. Blend the ADS , make ads look like your website contents, so that users could not understand whether these are advertisement or your websites links.

  3. Try different ads block units on each page. 728×90 is the best for header, and left site you can use 160×600 wide banner.

  4. Use Text Ads instead of image ads, text ads mostly pay more than images ads.

  5. Use Search Boxes as well.

  6. Use Link Ads ( it is must )

  7. Don't use Border in ads.
In this way, you will increase CTR ( Click Through Rate) which is NOC/1000 impressions (NOC : number of clicks ), Higher the CTR, higher the earnings. You should work hard on your contents and keep adding contents day by day so that you could be popular in your viewers and search engines like google and yahoo.

Which Mistakes can Ban Google Adsense Account

Google Adsense publishers often commit common mistakes that could ban their Adsense account. Google Adsense is a popular web advertising program which provides a good income source for many websites. There are well defined terms of service to strictly adhere to when participating in the program.

On my visit through sites and forums, I daily notice several instances of misuse of Adsense ads. So here a few helpful Google Adsense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These adsense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.

  1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

  2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to color and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

  3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

  4. Do not run competitive contextual text ad or search services on the same site which offer Google Adsense competition in their field. Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads. Never use other competitive search tools on the same pages which have Adsense powered Google search. They do allow affiliate or limited-text links. Update: Google has allowed you to run contextual advertising like Yahoo ads, Chitika etc provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.

  5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

  6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Dont make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

  7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

  8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

  9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

  10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colors and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same color as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

  11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

  12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

  13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches - Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

  14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing - Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

  15. Ensure you Language is Supported - Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

  16. Maximum 2 referral button per product per page - With the launch of the google adsense referral program, you are allowed to put only 2 referral buttons for adsense referral, adwords referral, Google pack and Firefox with google toolbar referral. Update: This feature is closed since aug 2008.

  17. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. - Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even Adsense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use Adsense ads as alternate urls.

  18. Do not confuse with adjacent images - It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors.

How to Make Money with Adsense

This post is in response to a number of emails I have received regarding Adsense. Specifically "How to Make Money with Adsense". I know most of you are familiar with the concept of adding Adsense to your blogs and are equally familiar with not making any money with it - or paltry sums at best.

This post is an overview of what I do and regular readers may want to skip this.

I have been absent for the past two weeks working on some other projects but I noticed my RSS readers have grown by another 100 or so which tells me that there are a lot of new faces on here and most of you are not familiar with me or what I do online. I am not an A Lister or a guru of any kind. I am a niche marketer who until now has been making money quietly on the net - this blog was developed as just "another" niche I wanted to dominate in order to make money with Adsense and Affiliate sales. Unlike my other niches this blog has developed a readership and this has curtailed a lot of my usual activities regarding affiliate sales but I have kept the Adsense.

I dominate niches by using SEO techniques that I have been refining for a long time. I am not familiar with other systems as everything I do has been learned by trial and error - I experiment constantly.

My methods can be reduced to one simple strategy - I pick a niche that gets lots of search engine traffic and has a lot of corresponding advertisers and then optimize my blog and posts for every term that is in any way related to the main topic and sometimes no relation what so ever. My goal is always the same - I want to rank on page 1 on Google for every single term I target. By doing this I receive thousands upon thousands of visitors to my sites everyday and a percentage of these visitors click my ads or buy products through my links. Making money online can be reduced to one simple equation - the more search traffic you receive the more money you make. You will not make decent income until you start drawing thousands of visitors daily - it is a simple numbers game.

I don't want to rehash topics I have covered before so please read my posts on Keywords and Search Engine Optimization if you are not familiar with the topics. To make money with Adsense you will have to grasp these concepts first.

In spite of what most of you think - you can make a good living with Adsense sites. I do and I can honestly say that it is the easiest method for making money online - but - it does require work and some patience before you start seeing any meaningful results. I realize that screenshots are meaningless as anything can be faked but I will show you my Adsense income from last month and remind you that I am not selling you anything here - I just want you to realize that this is a viable source of income if you want to buckle down and work for it. It has taken me the better part of two years to reach this stage so don't get ahead of yourselves - this takes time.

Make money online!

While searching on Internet for Making Money Online, I came across with website mGinger. Although this site really offers a way to Earn Money, in reality you can earn easy money but not fast money. I will explain you exactly how this site works.

To make money online using this site, you need to sign up on this website. They are paying their members for receiving advertisements messages on their mobile phones. So need not to worry about doing anything other than just signing up on this website at mGinger and completing your profile.
Once you have verified your identity by replying to the SMS, your account will be activated. Then you will start receiving messages from this website and you will earn .20 PKR (PAKISTANI Rupee) for every message.

However, the trick here is you will have to wait until you earn Rs.300 and then only you will receive the payment check from them. Since they are paying only .20 pkr per message, it will take a long time to earn Rs. 300. However, if you refer this site to other people, you will start earning .10 INR for each message and for every your direct referral member. You will also earn .05 INR for second level referrals.

Thus if you able to build a network of around 1000 people only, you will start earning a good amount even if only single message is received by your referrals. So I think this is one of genuine way to work from home and Make Money Online.

Getting Traffic To Your Website

There are many ways to drive traffic to a site. This part is often a big stumbling block for people when they are starting out. I can understand why this happens. People get overwhelmed with all the different traffic generation techniques and feel overloaded with information.

Essentially you can separate ways to drive traffic into 2 types ( those that cost you nothing and those that cost you something ):

1) Free Traffic

Everyone loves free traffic. There are quick ways of getting that traffic and methods that work over the longer term. If you want to generate a buzz that can be intense but usually relatively short lived, then submitting a Press Release is one great way.

Web 2.0 - Check out the FREE course in the sidebar you can sign up for if you want to learn more about this.

Article Marketing - You write an article that has relevance to the content on your site. You can then submit this article to various article directories on the web and include links in your resource box back to your site. This can be very powerful as you will have direct traffic from people clicking on the links in the articles and also, over time your site will gain rankings for your target terms in the search engines.

Forum Posting - Sign up with a forum relevant to your niche and write a signature with a call to action ( don't spam as that will just get you banned ).

2) Paid Traffic

The most obvious here is PPC ( Pay Per Click ) - The most heavily used/popular is Google Adwords. MSN and Yahoo also have PPC programs.

Also consider advertising in Ezines, solo ads, banner advertising, link advertising and submitting a paid press release.

My recommendation to you if you are starting out is to go with the free traffic generation techniques, then when you are starting to make money you can plough some of that back into paid methods for greater returns.

How To Make Money With Google Adsense

Some of you will be very familiar with Adsense whereas others will not. To some people making decent money with this program remains something of a mystery, whereas others have it mastered and are making a big chunk of change.

When you become a publisher affiliated with Google to display ads on your site/s as part of the content network, you receive a percentage of the revenue collected from the advertisers.  So then, what do you need to make good money with Adsense?

1) You need content - I don't recommend using anything other than unique content. Write each article around a keyword phrase and dedicate the page to the keyword phrase . Include secondary keywords in the content and don't overdo it in terms of keyword density 'on-page'

2) You need targeted traffic - This is because the traffic needs to convert well for the advertiser. This means you shouldn't chase social traffic when you want to make money with Adsense.

3) You need a website - You need to put your content pages on a site that is well themed for the niche you are targeting. Keep your site tightly focused around the niche and don't go off on a tangent with unrelated keywords. If you want to write about golf, don't add those article pages to a site about dog training.

4) You need to do enough promotion to get to your desired earnings level for that site. There is nothing wrong with building 50 sites that earn you $1-5 a day. Equally you could build one site up by doing more work on it to earn double digit daily earnings or more.

5) Once you have decent traffic you can make even more money by adding relevant CPA offers to your site. Bear in mind though that these offers expire so you need to manage this side of the equation. Alternatively you can add affiliate offers that don't expire.

I would also recommend you choose a high paying niche. If you don't want to do your own keyword research or don't have the time, then you will find lists available at High Ranking Keywords.

How To Make Dollars As An Adsense Publisher

One thing I am reading over and over on forums is how many people are only making a few cents per click ( or even less ) as Adsense publishers. They wonder why - how could this be? They often think they have tried everything. Comments on forums start to pour in such as "This sucks I only made $0.02 from a bajillion impressions, what am I doing wrong".

Well,  there are 3 obvious things you should look at it if you find yourself in this situation:

1) What niche are they targetting. If it's one where there isn't high advertiser interest/competition then the payouts are just going to be lower. Period. That's the law of supply and demand folks. Which niche do you think would pay higher? One with 2 advertisers in or one with 20 advertisers jostling for position?

Solution: Find a high paying niche

2) They are usually chasing social traffic. This type of traffic has its uses but the problem is it isn't targeted traffic, which makes it a poor choice of traffic generation for making money with adsense. Sure, you may get tons of traffic hitting your pages but this type of traffic isn't actually interested in what the advertisers are offering. You may get a bunch of clicks but Google knows that this traffic isn't converting for advertisers so it isn't going to pay out big bucks. This is why you end up with $0.01 or $0.02 for a click and end up scratching your head.

Solution: Generate targeted traffic to your site that converts for advertisers.

3) They have been Smart Priced - If you were making a decent amount per click and all of a sudden these earnings consistently drop through the floor it is possible your account has been smart priced. Please note, if the traffic to your site/s is not targeted it's more likely to be point 2 that needs addressing. If you suspect you have been smart priced, check your stats for sites that have a very low CTR ( by low I am talking under 3% ). Remove Adsense from these sites and leave it for a couple of weeks ( obviously you need >1 site to test this ). If your account earnings then go back to normal you know your account was smart priced as a result of one or more sites you have in your portfolio.

Solution: Remove adsense from sites you suspect have been smart priced and once your account earnings go back to normal gradually add sites back in. If your account then gets smart priced again, use the sites causing the smart pricing for something else.

Note: Don't form any conclusions based on 1 or 2 clicks, this isn't enough data to work with.

This is how you make money online as an Adsense publisher. Hopefully a lightbulb just went off in your head if you find yourself in the situation above. For those that would like more help and guidance in doing this step-by-step, you can register on the Content Cash Secrets priority notification list.

Make Extra Money with Affiliate Marketing

Many Internet marketers and everyday people are earning extra income online just by promoting affiliates. In order to profit, you must know the basics. It is a very smart idea actually and if done correctly, everyone wins.

In simple terms, affiliate marketing is getting paid from companies that have products in which you sell for them. For example, company A sells business card software and they need to make some sells. They will create an affiliate program that pays anyone a certain percentage, usually around 10 percent for every sale creating a lot of extra income working at home.

The concept of affiliate marketing is ingenious. The company wins because although they are paying you a certain percentage for every sell, they are profiting from the other ninety or so percent. You win because you do not have to create a product or ship it. All you have to do is promote the affiliate.

So how does it all work? There are several affiliate networks that run thousands of companies affiliate programs. These networks are normally a great place to find an affiliate in the category you are looking for. On the other hand, some companies choose to create their own affiliate program and cannot be found in these networks. It doesn't really matter where you find the affiliate as long as it is the type you are looking to promote.

It is usually very easy to set up an account with an affiliate program to start earning extra income at home. Normally, you click on their affiliate link fill out a e-form for tax purposes and the companies website will generate a link for you to promote, its that easy. Most affiliate programs are absolutely free to join and have no type of fee for you to pay. You either make money doing it or you don't.

So how do you make money from affiliate marketing if you do not have a website to drive traffic to? There are several ways to earn with affiliates without a website.

1. PPC advertising – There are several different companies offering PPC (pay per click) advertising. All you have to do is pick one, like google, and you set a bid on how much you want to pay per click on your link. You can usually make a lot of money with affiliates using the PPC technique only bidding five to ten cents per click. The trick is writing an appealing ad.

2. E-books – You can earn a huge extra income online just by creating an informational e-book with links to your affiliates in it. Just pick a topic, any topic and write an informational guide on how to do something or about anything at all. Once the e-book is created just give it away. Go into discussion forums and offer it for free to anyone. Try to do this is forums that are relevant to the product.

3. Friends and Family – Get the affiliate link and send it to all of your friends and family. Tell them exactly what is going on and next time they are interested in purchasing something from your affiliate category they can make you a little money without costing them anymore than they would have paid before.

There are thousands and thousands of dollars make everyday simply by promoting affiliates. Follow these basic guidelines and you will be well on your way to earning extra income with affiliate marketing online.

Make Money Online with Long Tail Marketing

If you think of the typical marketing technique, you think of advertising well known products to the masses. The technique of advertising small, less known products to fewer yet more targeted customers is referred to as the long tail.

The long tail was not effectively put into action until a few years ago. When the idea of effectively targeting consumers for smaller niches all of the sudden became very feasible and extremely profitable.

So why is the long tail so effective? Years ago, if you typed in the search term, online automobile insurance quote, you would probably not get what you were looking for. The long tail is so effective because there are millions of niche topics out there that are not targeted by marketers. The search term, Nike shoes, will return thousands and thousands of targeted results. The search term, Nike shoe retailer in Indiana, may result in thousands of results as well but very few will be targeted relevant results.

So, why is this important? The main search terms have a lot of competition. The niche topics have fewer visitors but a lot less competition. This means that if you can create one site for a certain niche, you can make a few dollars a day. If you can make 100 sites that make five dollars a day you have five hundred dollars a day. Replicate this process more and more and you will find yourself making loads of money online.

Many people are making money online because they are targeting these niche topics. A lot of the money that is being made comes from several small websites composed of a few good articles will information on that niche. Once the small site is created, google ads are placed on the page along with affiliate links to monetize the site. Once the site is setup and ready to make money an article is written everyday and submitted to well known article directories. The more articles you can write and submit, the more visitors come to the site. The more visitors you get to your site, the more money you make.
There are several tools you can use to speed up the process and many tricks of the trade that will make the process for efficient but now you know the basics. You can start making money online with the long tail promoting niche topics from the knowledge you have obtained from this article. It is not rocket science but it does take discipline to keep going. Anyone can do it but many do not. Those that choose to go through with it are becoming very wealthy making money online through long tail marketing.

Guidelines for adding the AdSense code to your web page

The following article lists some simple, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with adsense.

Adding the AdSense code to your web page is a very straight forward process. You just need to copy the AdSense code from your AdSense account (as seen in the AdSense code box) and paste it in your html code.

However, there are certain guidelines that you need to follow when pasting the AdSense code in your web page.

Firstly, you should never tamper with the AdSense code in any way. It should be pasted as such, in its entirety, without any changes or modifications; otherwise your AdSense code will not work. Moreover, you might end up violating the AdSense program policies.

Most of this information comes straight from the adsense pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you'll know what they know.

Also, it's important that you paste the AdSense code in the body tags of your html page. This is necessary for the code (java script) to run properly.

Further, you must ensure that you use a maximum of three ad units per web page (this is the limit specified by Google AdSense program) and not more than 1 link unit per web page.

Since content based Ad targeting is the main concept behind AdSense program, you need to ensure that you paste your AdSense code in the place where you have your main content pieces e.g. if you have your main content in a particular frame or a 'DIV' tag, your AdSense code should be pasted in that particular frame or 'DIV' tag.

Be careful when using WYSIWYG editor (What you see is what you get) editors. Such editors sometimes add few tags on their own. So, paste the AdSense code only in source code directly and not in the preview page or any other view of your web page. Always check the AdSense code for additional irrelevant tags before you actually upload your web page to your server.

That's the latest from the adsense authorities. Once you're familiar with these ideas, you'll be ready to move to the next level.

What you need to know about Extra Income Working from Home

Every entrepreneur, to achieve any amount of success should be motivated. Motivation comes from passion. Every book published or e-book that deals in money making and motivation screams passion – the most important ingredient in any successful entrepreneur.

Similarly, when you think about going after that extra income, you have to create a burning passion to do so. It will keep your fire glowing for a long time, at least till the first results become apparent. After that passion at a particular level keeps in rotation, after all money is the biggest motivator.

An entrepreneur embarking upon the route of home office and extra income should strongly believe in himself and his capabilities. He/ She should be thick skinned not to be perturbed or affected in any way by others comments and opinions. People are just plain jealous. Clear conscience and belief in oneself does not seek external approval. Evidence enough that, once you are successful and start earning extra income, the negative opinions and nasty comments turn into praise. One should have the ability and courage to make independent decisions and abide by them. This would be your most valuable asset yet.

Online businesses are basically scams – popular opinion of people around you in any part of the world. Your online business needs your approval heart and soul; otherwise success will keep eluding you and so will the extra income you planned from it. If Edison did not believe, that electricity can be harnessed to light up human life; we would still be living in the dark ages, wouldn't we?

Being flexible with working hours, being energetic, planning wisely, focusing on short-term objectives and stress control are hallmarks of a successful home business owner. If you think you lack in any of them, practice till you make these attributes a part of your involuntary senses.

Discipline to start is very important but to know where to stop is more important. Do not overwork or stress up yourself to the point of not stopping. It will only burn out your imagination and render you useless for some time to come. Making short time extra income, you will lose out on the next few dollars (ex: Burning out today may earn you $1000 today, but by not working for the next 3 days you will lose $500X3 = $1500). Work the number of hours as per the plan you carefully laid out.

Building your business is more important than earning money out of it. As your business sustains and grows, the money you earn from it automatically grows. Treat the home business as your hobby and keep abreast of it through updated information. Knowledge earned does not cost a cent here but will help in decision making in all spheres of independent life.

Last but not the least, fear of failure and not failure itself leads to most failures. Keep trying, look at failure as a part of learning and appreciate your benefit of knowledge from it. Learn fro your mistakes, a lesson we have learnt in primary school.

Get Visitors to your Website

Once you have built your site, of course, you will need to know how to get visitors to see what you offer, whether it is products you are selling or just good information.

The first thing that I recommend for you to do is go to google and type in google toolbar, now install it. It is free and this is one of the most useful tools you will ever use when running a website. Once you have installed this and you see it at the top of your browser window, click on the button named 'Options'. You will see three tabs - Browsing, Search and More. Stay on the Browsing tab and put a check in the 'PageRank display' box (I will tell you all about PageRank later on). Now click on the More tab. Put a check in the 'Page Info' box. You are done for now. With this tool you can now check the pagerank of your website, your competitors and your link exchange partners. Like I said, I will go in depth about the importance of PageRank later on but this is not extremely important right now.

Before I get into the marketing part of this training, I would like to put out a word of Caution. During your time as a Webmaster you will see over and over websites promising to drive thousands and thousands of targeted hits to your website, these are SCAMS. Most have software that can alter your page counter or website stats, that you can usually view on the webstats at your host, so that it looks like you have really gotten these visitors. Others just simply do nothing and steal your money. How do they get away with it? I have no clue, but they do every day. I have not seen every single website on the web so I cant say that there is not something out there that can promise something like this and actually go through with it but I would just advise to be very cautious and research anything like this before trying it.

Now I will tell you exactly what you need to do to get quality, REAL traffic to your website. First you should realize that you will not Get Rich Quick but it is VERY possible to get rich in time. Below are the two most important steps you need to follow in order to drive traffic to your site.

Content - Come up with as much content for your website as possible. If you haven't heard the saying 'Content is King' you will several times in the future. In my opinion, and many others, Content truly is king. The more pages you have and the more words you have on the pages the BETTER. This doesn't mean you have to create a thousand pages to get visitors. You could get a few hundred visitors a day with just 30 pages or less if you have alot of links, which I will talk about next, but you should always create some content whenever you have time.

Links - I am sure you have noticed on almost every website on the internet there is a link page or resources page. Links are extremely important to the success of your website. The reason for this is that Google, Yahoo and every other search engine consider a website as being worth while if their crawlers see that your link is on many other pages on the internet. Before I get too deep into this subject always remember that RELEVANCE IS KEY. If you have a website about Nike Shoes you should be finding linking partners that have websites about shoes, or sports or sporting goods or apparel, you get the point. The links that you have on your website aren't what they love to see, it is the links on other pages. Then why is it good to have a links page? It is not necessarily GOOD to have a links page but it is something you need to have. If you ask a fellow Webmaster if they would like place your link on their website they will probably laugh at you and delete your e-mail. If you ask a fellow webmaster if he would like to exchange links they will usually agree, as long as your website is not full of spam or has something they do not like on it. There are several reasons why a Webmaster may deny your link exchange request (we will get into this later) but you must realize for every one that denies it there are probably 5, 10 or even 100 that will.

The process of exchanging links, AKA reciprocal linking, is pretty simple. I will tell you a very successful technique I use to start promoting a website. Go to Google to start with since it is the number one search engine, and Yahoo next then MSN then all other popular search engines and type in the Keyword or Keyword Phrase that you have selected for your site. These are your competitors. Do not get too intimidated, you do not necessarily have to beat nike.com if your website is about shoes or Microsoft if it is about computers. You do not even have to be on the first page of search results to be successful. Start off by going to the number one search result. Look all over the front page of that website and look for a link named links, or resources or add url. Some sites will have this very well laid out and simple to exchange links while others may not even have an option. If you see a website that has a links page but no option to exchange, send them an e-mail, tell them you like their site and you would like to request a link exhange. An example of a simple link request is like this:

Hello,

I came across your Quality site through a Google Search and I feel you provide valuable information to your viewers. I own and operate a site specializing in (travel, nike shoes, whatever your site is about) and I would like to request a reciprocal link exchange. I feel my site is very relevant and would be a good fit on your links page. If you accept I will be happy to place your link on my links page, just send me the details. If you are interested; my linking details are below:

Title: Your Keyword or Phrase

Description: This is where you type in a sentence or two describing your site and what exactly you offer. I would suggest making the length of this about this long. But you could make it this long too. Some site and directories only accept short descriptions though.

URL: http://www.yoursite.com

Thank You for your time and consideration,

Best Regards,

John Doe

This is just an example of the format and wording for a link request. Once you have written the link request you like, it may be a good idea to copy and paste it into a word document so you do not have to type it all over and over. Just copy and paste it into the e-mail changing it to suite the request, if needed.

You can go down the list as far as you want. Once you get to the point to where the search results for your keyword do not seem relevant anymore try another relevant keyword or go onto the next search engine as each search engine comes up with different results.

You may come across offers saying you can pay a website and they will place your link on their website. This is a contravercial technique. Some say its not good to do it others say it doesnt matter. I have personally bought links on other websites but I do deep research before doing so. I would never pay more than 25-30 dollars a month for a site-wide link to a quality website. You Definitely DO NOT have to buy links with anyone. If you have the extra money to do so it could help but do not worry about it if you would rather not spend money.

Now I will tell you about the NUMBER ONE way to promote your website and get ONE-WAY links to your website. A One-Way Link is when someone places your link on their website without a link to their website on yours. The number one way to promote your website and get one-way links to your website it by post articles to Article Directories. When you post your articles to Article Directories, there is an area at the bottom of your article called the 'signature block' or 'about the author', here you will write something about you and your website. Here is a good example of a signature block:

Joshua Spaulding is an Author providing average people the opportunity to Start their own Home Business Online. Joshua provides this opportunity through his web-site at http://www.jobathomesolutions.com

The link in the signature block is what will drive traffic to your site. You will get a few visitors here and there just from those who find your article and click on your link but that is not what you are counting on. I will explain something else first, then I will get back to that. When you post an article to a directory, you agree to let other webmasters post your article on their website as long as they keep the signature block intact with the Article. THIS is what provides the one-way links to your site, not to mention the one way link in the first place from the actual directory and THIS is what will eventually drive traffic to your site.

Create an Article: You can either write the articles yourself or hire a GhostWriter to do it for you. When writing the Article be sure to format it correctly. This is not very hard to figure out. To learn a little more about articles including How to Write an Article visit my article creation page. The reason for a good article format is that most Article Directories will not accept your article unless it looks professional. The average length of your Articles should be approximatly 350 words, no less. You can make your articles longer than 350 words but I would not go over 500 words.

Find Quality Article Directories: Do a search for 'Article Directory' on Google and you should be able to find plenty. Some quality directories that I use are ArticlesAlley.com, EzineArticles.com, EveryArticles.com and Articledashboard.com. Find as many of these directories as you can and post each article to all of them if possible.

If you have the time, you should submit at least two articles per week to as many directories as possible. Of course there will be times when you do not have time to write all of these articles, just allways keep this in mind. You do not HAVE to submit that many articles but the more the better.

One more very important factor in writing your article is to refrain from advertising. Your advertising space is your Signature Block, NOT the article. If your article is about Nike Shoes you should be talking about how they are manufactured or the different types or anything to do with nike shoes, or shoes in general. DO NOT talk about how you provide information about Nike Shoes at your website. The articles should be totally informational.

While all links to your site are good, there is one type that is the best. Links with an 'anchor text' like most of the links on this page. A basic link is one like this: http://www.yoursite.com A link with 'anchor text' is one like this: Make Money Online If you use a website editor like Dreamweaver, creating these links inside your website is simple, you just type in the text, highlight it and then type in the URL of the site you want the text linked to in the box at the bottom that says Link. If you edit code manually you can paste a code like the one below into your html. When you create your signature block it is very wise to use a link with anchor text. Most major Article Directories accept this, including those mentioned above and it is very easy to do. When you are entering your article you just place the code below into the signature block exactly where you want the link to be. For instance if you want the link text to be Make Money Online and your website is http://www.jobathomesolutions.com you would use the following code:

<a href="http://www.jobathomesolutions.com" target="_parent">Make Money Online </a>

To change the site and link text all you have to do is change the http://makemoneyonline.josh4info.com part of the code to your website, and change Make Money Online to your keyword, or the text you want to use.

When entering the code your signature block should look exactly like this:

Joshua Spaulding is an Author providing average people the opportunity to Start their own Home Business Online. Joshua provides this opportunity and others, helping people to start <a href="http://www.jobathomesolutions.com" target="_parent">Making Money Online </a>.

It looks bad now but once the article is submitted it will look exactly like this:

Joshua Spaulding is an Author providing average people the opportunity to Start their own Home Business Online. Joshua provides this opportunity and others, helping people to start Making Money Online.

Well Thats it. So your eyes hurt from reading all of this, oh well, you now know more than what 90 percent of all webmasters know. If you didnt take all of this information in be sure to go over it until you do. The sooner you understand everything on this page the better off you are. If you do everything I just told you, your website will be booming in no time.

P.S. To check the number of links pointing to your site a any time just type in

link:http://www.yourdomain.com

into any search engine, the number of results it shows is how many backlinks you have to your site.

How to Make a Website

Step 1: Come up with an idea for your website. Try to make it something you are interested in and/or something you have at least some knowledge of.

Step 2: Think of one good keyword or keyword phrase. If you are building a website about inline skates your keyword should be something like ' inline skates'. When choosing your keyword keep your competitors in mind. If you are building a website about computers you may want to think twice before picking the keyword 'computers'. If you have plenty of money for marketing your website then you may be able to be successful with a very competitive keyword but if you are an average person you may want to think of something a little less competitive like 'computer information'. A very valuable resource you should use ( I use it just about every day for one thing or another) is the Keyword Selector Tool at http://inventory.overture.com. Type in your keyword in the very simple tool, this will show you how many searches were on yahoo in the last month on the keyword you typed in and on other keywords similar to it. I would suggest to pick a keyword that is RELEVANT to the theme of your site that has somewhere between 2,000 and 5,000 searches a month. This is because of what I said before, competition. If you are starting your first website you DO NOT need to waste your time competing with Dell or Microsoft. Once you choose your Keyword or Keyword phrase either write it down or memorize it, this will be a very important part of getting your website known.

Step 3: Now that you have the idea for your website and the keyword, you need a domain (the actual website address, ie. http://www.yoursite.com) Now you need to think of a domain name. When considering your domain name, try to think of one that has each word of your keyword or keyword phrase in it, for instance, if your keyword is computer information the idea domain would be http://www.computerinformation.com. Of course most domains are allready taken so you will have to add something in, a suggestion would be http://www.computer-information-now.com . Do not get too stuck on picking the right domain name, allthough it is better to have your keyword in your domain, it will not badly damage your marketing. You register domains through what is called a 'Website Host' Choosing a bad host can cause problems in the future. I have always used the same host called PakReseller.com, so I honestly couldn't tell you all about every host out there. PakReseller.com provides me with everything I have needed in my online business and I would recommend them to anyone. For this instruction I will use 1and1 for the examples as this is the Host I am familiar with. To find out which domains are available go to 1and1 homepage, on the right in the middle of the page there is a spot to check domain availability, you simply type in the domain you are interested in and it will tell you if it is available or not.

Step 4: Now that you have chosen your domain name you will need to register it. Right now, August 2006, one domain on 1and1 costs 6 dollars per year. This is a very good price, I think just about everyone in the world can afford to spend six dollars a year to own a website that could possibly bring in 10,000 times that in a year. On the previous step I explained how to find out if a domain is available or not. Go back to the 1and1 website, type in the domain you have chosen and just follow the simple steps. You will have to choose a hosting package, since you are probably brand new to all of this you may want to choose the basic package but if you know you are going to stick with this you will eventually want to purchase the business package.

Step 5: Now you have come up with the idea for your site, chosen a good keyword, chosen a domain and registered it. Now how do you actually create the website? I think this is the step that scares most people away from the idea of making your own website, but it is actually very easy. You DO NOT have to know HTML ( Hypertext Markup Language- The code that actually makes a website work) to build a website, you DO NOT have to know anything about Website Design, all you have to know is what I have told you already and what I am about to tell you. If you do know how HTML works it is possible to make your website straight through your host but it will take you 10 times more time and effort. There is software out there that has been created for you to use that will create the HTML for you. I use a program called Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is said to be the number one website building software on the market. This is the only software I have used and I can honestly say it is INCREDIBLE. When I first purchased this software I had no idea how to use it. It took a few hours to learn how to use the basics and a few weeks to learn the more advanced stuff but anyone can learn how to use it just by messing around with it and seeing what things do. Dreamweaver also provides a good training tutorial on their website. Purchasing this software will be the biggest investment you will make in the whole process of making a website but in the long run it is WELL worth the investment. You can go to the main website through the banner I have placed below. If you get stuck you can always call them, afterall you did pay for the software, they should provide technical support right? They do!

Well thats it, if you have followed all of these steps just how I said, you now have your very own unique, operational Website. The next step in your journey is to Promote Your Website.

What makes Google AdSense system so special?

If you have even a passing interest in the topic of adsense, then you should take a look at the following information. This enlightening article presents some of the latest news on the subject of adsense.

The basic arrangement in which Google AdSense system works is such that Google has the basic control over the Ads that are displayed on the websites subscribed to Google AdSense system. Of course, the website owner can customize how an Ad looks and also block/filter certain types of Ads on their website.

The Ads that Google serves are 'Senseful' Ads (these Ads are actually relevant to the topics that the website discusses/ caters-to). This is something that is not found in other advertising programs/systems. This creates a win-win situation for everyone.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you're fully informed about adsense, keep reading.

The people who are visiting the website (that contains Google AdSense Ads) are doing so because they are interested in the product/service/topic that is discussed on that website. It would be of little use to them if you were to serve Ads that are not related to the topic in any way.

On the other hand, Ads related to the topic of the website would really prove useful to the visitor. They might actually be interested in a product or service that is being advertised through Google AdSense Ads. So, website visitors get a richer experience due to AdSense program.

Website owners get revenue for displaying the Google AdSense Ads and for the clicks they receive on the Ads. So, they are happy too. As far as businesses/advertisers are concerned, they get a system (AdSense system) for targeted advertising that is both easy and economical to operate.

Moreover, Google AdSense Ads are presented in a much better way than the banner Ads or other types of Ads. Most of the Ads are simple text Ads that are clear and concise. The website owners find it easy and the advertisers find it easy too. Google AdSense is really one of the best advertising programs available today.

Now that wasn't hard at all, was it?  And you've earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert's word on adsense.

Best Ad Placement of Google Adsense

When you're running a website, whoever is surfing it is staring at the screen…but where? One of the biggest questions for website designers is, "Where are the user's eyes looking?" Where do your eyes go when you read articles on the Web? What do you notice and what do you miss?

Well, we've got some answers for you, because this topic has been studied. Turns out that the upper left quarter of the screen gets the most attention, according to the Eyetrack III research of The Poynter Institute, the Estlow Center for Journalism & New Media, and Eyetools. But that's not all. There's more to it than that.

People's eyes have some very common behaviour patterns. It probably has to do with our hunter-gatherer ancestry.

First, we do reconnaissance, or "recon" as the military calls it. Users' eyes flick over the entire screen at whatever draws their attention. And what draws it most?

Well, the first hot spots are headlines, photo captions, subheadings, links, menu items and the logo on the page-doesn't matter if it's a good logo or a bad one, people look at logos.

Then the upper left corner of the screen gets special attention, probably because that's where people expect to find the very best stuff. And the right-hand and lower part of the page almost always gets less attention.

This is info that site developers must know: when you put your most important, vital content outside that critical upper left corner (did you notice the Ads I put there?), that important content might as well be invisible when people are making the big decision: whether to stay on your site and read more or go somewhere else.

Yes, people scan a page quickly. But scanning has a purpose: it quickly identifies to a user what they really want to read. The good news is that if you can hook them right off the bat, when they start actually reading a news story on the Web, they read a larger proportion than if they were reading that very same story in the newspaper.

Google has put together a page containing useful placement tips:
https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=17954&topic=8437

including the hot spot picture:

The best location for Google ads varies from page to page, depending on content. Here are a few questions to ask yourself when considering where to position your ads:

    * What is the user trying to accomplish by visiting my site?
    * What do they do when viewing a particular page?
    * Where is their attention likely to be focused?
    * How can I integrate ads into this area without getting in the users' way?
    * How can I keep the page looking clean, uncluttered and inviting?

Certain locations tend to be more successful than others. This "heat map" illustrates the ideal placing on a sample page layout. The colors fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to light yellow (weakest performance). All other things being equal, ads located above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page.

While this heat map is useful as a positioning guideline, we strongly recommend putting your users first when deciding on ad location. Think about their behavior on different pages, and what will be most useful and visible to them. You'll find that the most optimal ad position isn't always what you expect on certain pages.

For example, on pages where users are typically focused on reading an article, ads placed directly below the end of the editorial content tend to perform very well. It's almost as if users finish reading and ask themselves, "What can I do next?" Precisely targeted ads can answer that question for them.

What is Google AdSense?

In today's world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

AdSense is a wonderful advertising concept that was conceived by Google some time back. Though new advertising concepts keep coming up all the time, this one is something that is altogether different.

Now that we've covered those aspects of adsense, let's turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

AdSense (Google's advertising program) presents an earning opportunity to the website owners by allowing Google to post advertisements on their websites. These advertisements are either text advertisements or image based advertisements. Of course, the website owners need to enroll to the AdSense program through Google's website (https://www.google.com/AdSense).

Google AdSense program requires you (the website owner) to include a piece of code (a programming script) on your website. You can add this piece of code anywhere in the html code of your website i.e. depending on where you want to position the advertisements (however, there are certain rules that you must follow while pasting this scripting code).

This piece of code is what determines the structure of advertisements and their content (and this is what helps Google in floating the advertisements on your website). When people visit your website they are able to see these advertisements. Your earnings are based on how many Google Ads are displayed on your website and also based on how many times visitors to your website actually click on one of those Ads. The Google AdSense system calculates your revenue on per-click (CPC) and per-thousand-Ads-displayed (CPM) basis. The latter is also known as impressions.

For people who want to advertise their products and services through the Google AdSense system, it's just a matter of signing up through Google Adwords program and letting Google know how much they want to spend towards advertising through Google AdSense. These businesses can specify the limit and Google AdSense system will accordingly serve their Ads so as to ensure that the specified limit is not crossed. Google AdSense increases the visibility of their business/ services and also increases traffic to their website; hence fulfilling their purpose of advertising.

Sometimes it's tough to sort out all the details related to this subject, but I'm positive you'll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above.

Creating a Google Adsense Account

Step 1: Go to Google Adsense and click on the button that says 'Click here to Apply'.

Step 2: Fill in the 'Website URL' like this - www.yoursite.com and select the language of your site.

Step 3: Select the account type. If you are new to this and you do not have a registered business just select Individual, this is fine. Fill out the contact information and be sure to be honest. This information will be used for tax purposes and the address you provide is where Google will send your check if you do not choose to have the money electronically delivered.

Step 4: Check the boxes for Adsense for Content and Adsense for Search.

Step 5: BE SURE to READ the Google Policies and if you agree to them check the boxes and click the submit button.

Step 6: Be absolutely sure that the information is correct, check the appropriate boxes for your preference and click continue.

Step 7: Check your email and follow the steps google provides, you will need to fill out a tax form that they provide online for them to legally provide you with adsense.

After you have created your account, login. You will see three tabs - Reports, Adsense Setup and my account. Click on My Account and make sure all of the information is correct, if it is not, correct it. Once you are sure your information is correct go to the section called ' Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up' If it says that you are subscribed to this I would recommend un subscribing as it is not really useful to you. For instance, look at the example ad below:

You see where the 'Ads by Goooooogle' text shows up under the ads. If you were signed up for Onsite Advertiser this text would show up at the lower left hand side of the ad and there would be another spot at the lower right hand side of the ad that would say 'Advertise on this Site' If you were subscribed to online advertiser and someone was interested in advertising on your site it would not help you one bit. So do what you want but I choose not to use this option as it makes the ad look more like an advertisement and people generally click on normal links more than advertisements.

Step 8: Now to place the ads on your site go back to the main menu and click on 'Adsense Setup'. Now you have the options of putting normal google ads (Adsense for Content) on your site, Google search and Google Site Search and referrals. Click on the option you would like and follow the steps to create the ad you like. When you have created it just copy the code provided and paste it in the page you would like the ad to appear at.

Thats it, your done. The links in the ads will configure automatically to the content of your site making them very relevant. Now everything someone clicks on your ads you will make money but DO NOT click on your own ads. Googles robots record ip address and keep track of who clicks what. So if you click on your own ads repeatedly google will ban your account for life. It has been known to happen on many occasions.

This way, web site owners can have a steady supply of articles with the proper keywords that they relate to their site contents. The result of this is seen in the sites page rank when indexed by the search engines. Which, in turn, gets more Adsense ads to show above, below or next to the article on their website with targeted traffic.

What do people have to do?

Write quality and original content, keyword or phrase rich articles with links to your website in the resource box. Then build a website or web page with targeted keyword or phrase rich original content for the targeted traffic that originates from the articles you wrote. Finally, you will have a Google Adsense ads that are targeted to your keyword or phrase rich original content site where visitors will get to visit when they come looking for information.

And the person with the quality original content rich website. Of course, the search engines and its advertisers are getting targeted traffic and sales but so what? As long as you are getting something in your favor, it does not really matter what the others are getting for themselves.

Tips To Help You Get The Most From Adsense

I would imagine that most Hubbers know what Adsense is, so rather than bore you with a long and unnecessary description of Adsense I will keep it short. Google Adsense is an advertising network that can potentially monetize your website by serving up contextual ads directly to your WebPages. All that is required to get up and running is to include a unique Google Adsense publisher code into the HTML of your pages. Potential earnings can range from a few dollars to several hundred dollars every month.

Google have some great Adsense tutorials so if you are new to Adsense I suggest you read those first and familiarise yourself with the workings and terminology of Adsense. So, if you don’t know how to set up and position ad units or work with ad formats, start by working through Google’s Adsense Resources.

https://www.google.com/adsense/adsense-resources

Once you have added your Adsense code, Google will serve relevant ads to your pages. Even if you have read the information over at Google’s Adsense Resources there is no guarantee you will earn anything that could be considered an income.

So this is where the hard work begins, we are going to be looking at selecting topics to write about, ensuring that your pages are sufficiently self descriptive to ensure that relevant ads are displayed, measuring competition for the keywords you are targeting and getting search engine positions in order to drive traffic to your Adsense pages.

Topical Events and Hot Topics

Websites like HubPages are great places to write about topical events. Topical Events such as the recent US election are much searched for and documents that make reference to topical events receive a boost in their rankings. I suspect that some Hubbers who published articles about the election noticed an increase to their Adsense income.

Topical events may also become hot topics; the US election was both Topical and a hot topic. For the sake of clarity topical means current and newsworthy, a hot topic is current, newsworthy and heavily searched for online. Search engines are very quick at spotting hot topics by analysing search trends. A good example of this happened when concern over the Avian Flu epidemic was at its height. Pages that made reference to Avian Flu were deemed topical, even pages that had been around for years before the epidemic became a hot topic saw an increase in rankings.

Writing articles about hot topics and posting them on trusted sites like Hubpages can get your pages spidered quickly and achieve better rankings than your own website, if you have one, thus increasing your true earning potential.

Here are a few Ideas that are just screaming out for hubs to be written:

* I am thinking of buying a new car, should I buy from the big three?
* Should the heads of the big three keep their jobs?
* What is the greater evil, bailing out the big three to preserve jobs and the status quo or listening to free market forces and let them wither?

Gaining the Indirect Edge

You may have noticed a flaw in my original plan, that is, if you want to promote your own site it would involve waiting around for hot topics that have a direct impact on your business or the buying decisions of your target customers. Not so, you could for example write a piece talking about how your product or service can help your customers survive the current economic downturn.

Harnessing the power of blogs

If you have a blog associated to your site and registered you feed with Feedburner (now owned by Google) you might have noticed that new posts can make it to the first page of Google’s results within minutes of going live. If you also use the indirect edge method outlined above you can really drive traffic to your Adsense pages and gain customers at the same time.

Calculating the competition

Let’s look at two keyphrases, “Real Estate” and “Real Estate Denver”. Sub prime lending is still a hot topic and it would not be difficult to include references to sub prime lending from within articles about either keyphrase. However, competition for the keywords you target has a direct impact on your abilty to earn.

By using Google’s advanced operators it is possible to calculate how competitive these terms actually are. If you search for “Real Estate” on Google you will see that Google returns 487,000,000 results that it deems relevant to your search. Similarly, “Real Estate Denver“returns 632,000 rsults. This number can be found above the results on the right hand side of the screen.

N.B. The figure that you see for this result may be different, this is because this number is dynamic and I am writing this document in Spain, so we are more than likely viewing results from entirely different data centres.

Although Google reports 487,000,000 pages for Real Estate and 632,000 pages for Real Estate Denver this does not relate to 487,000,000 competing for those terms, only the number of pages that contain those words. Now try these searches:

intitle:”Real Estate” inanchor:”Real Estate”

The number of pages returned from this search is 72,000,000.

intitle:”Real Estate Denver ” inanchor:”Real Estate Denver”

The number of pages returned from this search is 158.

What these 2 searches tell us is that there are 72,000,000 pages that have Real Estate in their title and within the links that point to the page, a sure sign that a decent level of optimisation is in place. This is a seriously competitive term and even with a very powerful blog it’s going to be difficult to rank for it.

Thankfully, we have a fallback term; Real Estate Denver which has only 158 pages that contain the term in both the page title and the links that point to the page. By including a fallback term you increase the chances of gaining rankings and therefore Adsense clicking traffic.

Spider Spider

Where your page eventually ranks within the search engines comes down to the power, trust, reputation and link profile of site that hosts your articles. Sites like HubPages already have this by the bucket load, you may have noticed how quickly your pages rank and may get the occasional surprise at how well they rank. Google’s ranking algorithm takes many things into account in deciding relevancy. This opens up another jar of worms that is SEO, I have written a few hubs about SEO, and will be writing others, so rather than side track this hub I suggest you read those if you want information about SEO.

In essence search engines crawl your pages and download them to their servers. Spiders or crawlers are not responsible for ranking pages, rather pages are analysed by the search engines once they are downloaded. However, Adsense creates another layer of complexity by using a second spider to evaluate the contextual relevancy of your pages in order to deliver suitable ads.

In my opinion, this is why most Adsense publishers can’t get beyond earning a few dollars per month. Before we get into this section you should download and install the Google Adsense Preview tool if you have not already done so. Instructions how to install/uninstall the tool can be found at:

https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=10005

Once the tool is installed you will be able to see which contextual ads would be delivered to any page whether they publish Adsense ads or not.

N.B. When you try this tool for the first time on pages that have not been set up for Adsense the ads may not seem relevant. If this happens return to the page an hour or so later, by that time the Adsense bot should have visited and the correct ads displayed. (Running the Google Adsense Preview tool on a page will send out the Adsense bot to check the page)

So what can we learn by using this tool? Well from a straight forward SEO perspective its great way to check if our “On Page” optimisation is on target. Just run the tool on your pages and see if the ads served up are relevant, if not you might want to tweak your content. Also, check your competitor’s pages and the top ranking pages for the terms you are chasing to make sure that you got it right.

The Adsense algo places a heavy reliance on ‘on page’ factors to serve up relevant ads and each page is looked at in isolation. Internal navigation and back links play a reduced role in calculating which ads are served up. This is contrary to their main algo which drives rankings primarily based on links. This allows you to isolate and effectively test the efficacy of your on page optimisation against competing WebPages.

Semantics

Some of you may have heard about LSI or Latent Semantic Indexing. The truth is, unless you are a dyed in the wool SEO there is no need to understand the technology behind it. You do need to know how to use semantics and how to find terms that are semantically related to those that you are targeting.

If someone was to say to you ‘Java’, would they be talking about coffee, a scripting language or the island? If Java was used along with coffee, script or Jakarta then we would have a better idea what they were talking about.

Search engines work in a similar way in that certain words add contextual meaning to other words and in turn an entire document or article. One of our tasks is to make each page as self descriptive as possible (a task common to SEO and Adsense publishing) thus ensuring that a page is categorised properly, ranks better and displays the most relevant ads.

Working With Googles Semantic Operator

Search Google for wood, you will see that 277,000,000 pages are returned. Now try this search:

~wood -wood

If you are unfamiliar with Google’s semantic search what you have done is:

* Ask Google to return pages that are relevant for wood
* Remove any page from the result that make use of the word wood

Now look at the results and pay particular notice to the words in bold. What you are looking at are the words that Google deems to be semantically related to wood. Now amend your search by misusing out the words in bold as they occur within the search results. So my next search would be:

~wood -wood -cedar

And then:

~wood -wood -cedar -furniture

Eventually you should end up with a search query that looks like this:

~wood -wood -cedar -furniture -wooden -woods -woodworking -lumber -hardwood

Now repeat the process with the first new word that was discovered i.e. cedar: ~cedar -cedar -wood

Continue the process for each word discovered from the original search>

~furniture -furniture -chair -chairs -desks -sofas

~wooden -wooden -wood -toy –carved ~woods -woods -wood -golf -clubs -trees -wood's

~woodworking -woodworking -woodcraft -furniture -do -it -yourself -woodwork -wood –working ~lumber -lumber -wood -timber -logging

~hardwood -hardwood -tile -wood -flooring -timber -laminate

What you now have is a list of words semantically related to Wood. These are the words that Google wants to see on your pages to show that they are authoritative documents. If you want to research how LSI works in depth I suggest you start by researching Term Document Matrix, just type it into Google... Good luck!

At the end of the process you should have a word list similar to the one below.

Wood, cedar, furniture, wooden, woods, woodworking , lumber, hardwood, chair, chairs, desks, sofas, toy, carved, golf clubs, trees, wood's, woodcraft , do it yourself, woodwork, wood working, timber, logging, tile, wood and laminate.

So in the unlikely event I have to write a document that I want to rank for wood I have a dip-in word list I can use to up the relevance of the piece and ensure the most relevant ads are served to my pages. However, its not that often I target single word terms unless they are brand names. To extend the semantic search to include multiple word terms, for example Real Estate, use the following syntax:

~"Real" + ~"Estate" -Real –Estate

And repeat the process as outlined above.

I hope that you find this information useful and that it results in a few more dollars in your pocket.

Earning Money from Yahoo Groups

Using yahoo groups to make extra money from home is not as hard as it may seem. Usually, when people think of yahoo groups, they automatically think of spam. This is very understandable as these types of groups are well known for being cluttered with spam. It doesn't have to be that way though and you can profit immensely from these groups if you use them in the correct way. Read on to find out how.

There are two types of yahoo groups you can join to make extra money from home. The first group is strictly for advertising purposes. People basically join these groups for the main purpose of getting the word out on their product or service. Although this may seem like a great way promote your opportunity, it is often not the best way. For one, these kinds of groups can get saturated fast with spam and chances are your message will not even be read. Secondly, these types of groups do not offer much for building relationships with people and getting valuable information on your niche.yahoo group is a topic or niche related group where you join in with others and post valuable ideas and information. You are not there to blatantly advertise your opportunity, but rather to build relationships with people and therefore build trust. Once you accomplish this, you can include a link to your business in your signature line. This is a much non evasive form of advertising and people who click on your link are actually interested in learning more about what you have to offer.

build relationships Build trust with other members by being a part of the group and making daily posts with relevant information such as articles, tips, comments or ideas. This takes a bit of time but will help you out in the long run. People need to get familiar with you and what information you have to offer. They need to feel like you are there as a part of the group wanting to make contributions that are beneficial to everyone and not just there to sell them on how to make extra money from home with your opportunity. This will build credibility.Once you do this, you can start introducing your opportunity as another way that will benefit them or simply place your opportunity link in your signature and people will start clicking on it once they trust you. This is where the profits start to roll in and the fun begins. You have to be patient to reach to this point, but once you get there, you will be glad you took the time to establish relationships and build trust.

Earn Money from Online Paid Survey

How Paid Surveys work?
In the United States alone, companies spend over 250 Billion dollars a year trying to convince consumers to buy their products and services.
And while the majority of it is spent on advertising, $766 million dollars is devoted to "market research".

Understanding how people think and shop, why they buy certain products, etc. ultimately helps companies improve their products and services and make THEM more money.
Knowing this, and that they won't get our help for free, companies are willing to pay people like you and me good money - up to $150 an hour! - for our opinions, because when the dust settles they know they will come out ahead and generate even more profits for themselves.
As a matter of fact, there are currently over 7 million companies worldwide that actively survey consumers to find the best way to promote their products.

What are Surveys?
Surveys are questionnaires designed to inform companies about what people like you think about their products and services. They can be done online or over the phone. The answers from the participants are then compiled by market researchers and used to make important decisions about product design and advertising campaigns.

What are Focus Groups?
Focus groups are a marketing research technique in which a group of people (usually about 10) are led through a discussion of a particular product or service by a trained moderator. They can be conducted in person, online, or over the phone. Focus groups are designed to give a company a better idea of how consumers perceive a particular product or service.
On the average, if you just do about 1 survey a day and a company pays you $20 for each, that is:
Just 1 survey a day @ $20 each = $600 a month.
Just 4 focus groups a month @ $150 each = $600 a month.

So if you're retired, a stay-at-home mom, student or anyone else looking to make extra cash completing paid online surveys are a fantastic way of making great money. You won't become a millionaire with surveys, but the opportunity is very exciting -- even for people who already have a full-time job.

How to Make Money From a Blog

Do you want to earn money by blogging? A blog is a web log or an online diary that can be for business or pleasure. Many people now earn part-time or even full-time salaries by blogging for money. Find out a few ways that you can monetize your blog and earn money for your efforts.

Choose a blog. There are free hosted blogs online through many sources that can help you by giving you the tools and resources to make it simple to start your own blog. Or you can register a domain name and start your blog from scratch if you have a bit of technical savvy.

Choose a niche. Once you've decided on a blog, decide what you will write about to attract visitors. Some simply use their blog as a place to write editorials or opinions while others blog about a specific subject they are knowledgeable on. Many professional bloggers recommend that you choose a niche so you can build a following.Promote your blog. Use web services that will get you some attention such as blog directories and social bookmarking. Using these services can help you get indexed in search engines and drive traffic to your blog. Commenting on other blogs can also build links in to your blog and help more people find you. Once you have some material to read and are indexed in search engines, you can begin to really monetize your blog and start earning money.

Sign up with Google Adsense. Google offers the ability for people to display targeted advertisements on their blog. Google will give you a percentage of that revenue when people: click on the ads, view the ads and purchase something from a sponsor. You need to apply to Google Adsense and wait for acceptance, and then you will have to work with your blog program to embed the code so the advertisements display properly. This is not difficult. You need to follow Google's TOS (terms of service) in order to maintain good standing. See warning section in this article for more information.
